The Native Arts Forum provides educational opportunities for docents and volunteers of the Indian Arts Research Center (see below, Associates). Activities include lectures, artists’ demonstrations, films, and field trips, which enhance understanding of Southwest Native cultures—ancient and modern—and their relationship to the Center’s extensive collection. A second purpose of the Forum is to support acquisition of additional items for the collection—pieces from the past as well as current works that document both continuing and evolving traditions.AssociatesAssociates of the Native Arts Forum are current, former, and prospective volunteers and docents of the Indian Arts Research Center. A yearly fee of $65 is assessed: $30 of this is used to support the lectures and trips (refreshments, admission fees, speakers’ honoraria, etc.) and $35 is a tax-deductible contribution to support acquisitions to the collection. Thus, the Associates represent an ongoing resource for development of the Indian Arts Research Center. Guests and interested individuals from the community may attend, as space permits, for a fee of $10 per event (limit of two events per year).
